Lieutenant John Orth

John Orth, Northwestern lager beer and refreshment saloon, No. 255 Wisconsin street, is a native of Germany, born in 1840. In 1851 he came direct to Milwaukee form Germany. He was formerly in the wholesale liquor business. He established his present business in 1880. In 1862 he enlisted in the Twenty-sixth Wisconsin Volunteers Infantry, Company I, mustered out in 1863. He was wounded while skirmishing at the place called Though Fair Gap, and discharged in 1863. In 1867 he was married to Miss Augusta Kilian. They have three sons and two daughters.
