Private William Hoefling, Company F

William Hoefling, grain dealer, was born in Germany, Jan. 5, 1845. He came to America in 1862, and went to Manitowac, and enlisted in Co. F. 26th Wis. Inf., and served until the close of the war. He afterwards attended college in Milwaukee, and then was employed as a book-keeper in Chicago. In the summer of 1869, he made a trip to Germany, and on his return, he located in this county (Buffalo). The following spring, he established his present business. He has been Justice of the Peace, two years, and Village Clerk, four years. In 1874, he married Addie Saltman, a native of Germany. They have three children – Elfa, Orma, and Luida.
